Sunday – and too much wine

Somewhat tired today

It’s Sunday and I’m honestly a bit tired and not into the mood for doing anything today. Last night we had dinner with too much red wine at some of our neighbours.  The combination of wine and that we turned the clock one hour back last night , is something that I’m far too old for. After heavy rain during the night, the sun is shining form a bright blue sky, perfect for All Hallows Eve or Halloween.

The boys are too grown for having fun with pumpkin carving. When they were smaller, we did that every year. It was something we looked forward to every year, even though they lost interest in the middle of the carving. Mayby because we always picked the largest ones, we could find. After the carving we cleaned the seeds, let them soak in salt water and dried them in the oven. The crispiest and healthiest pumpkin seed chips, eaten with a good conscience the days after.

Even though it was always a big mess carving all those pumpkins, I sometimes miss those times where all three boys we into doing something with us parents. Now they just spend all their time in their rooms in their own small teenage worlds. All I have done for Halloween this year is to put op a wreath with small pumpkins on the front door.

Halloween will be celebrated with lit candles in the living room windows and that’s it for this year.
