Sowing the first seeds
This January, it’s already itching in your fingers to get started on that look. Although daylight is still a brief pleasure, I am already getting started.
I have some nice little plastic greenhouses from Aldi to the windowsills. They can be stacked in several layers, then they only occupy a window in the living room. The first thing I want to see this year is tomatoes and peppers. They sprout quite quickly and can get out into the greenhouse relatively early. Chilies are also something I have to work on this year, both sweet and strong, the small and the big.
It must be looked after
In recent years I have worked too much and too long and both the garden and greenhouse have been greatly neglected. I had to choose between a garden or a greenhouse, because there was simply no time for everything. I have kept the garden and let the greenhouse look after itself, with miserable result to result = zero yield. Last year I got planted to, but only with a weekend visit to the greenhouse, it became a jungle without tomatoes and cucumbers, only leaves.
This year it should be different!
I have again normal working hours and short transport time so I can get home and have the last of the afternoon with.
Summer dreams are still alive and well. Dreams of a long hot summer, with many, many summer days. Quiet weekends where I get up early and take care of most of the garden before the seventies wake up. Dream of unlimited amounts of tomatoes, cucumbers and pepper. Long-courses of herbs that can be harvested for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food on barbecue, salads and lovely homemade Italian bread. Perennials, summer flowers and roses that just stand in full bloom all the time… can you seen it for you?
It’s time to see this in the cold winter time while I’m warming up for my summer dreams!
