Now and then, we use the Too Good To Go app and buy whatever is left at the baker’s – lucky bags or goodie bags. Sometimes it a lot of cake, sometimes is a lost of bread, mostly different kinds of white bread. The cake and bread is not allowed to be sold the day after and would have been thrown out instead.
So, what to do when you get too much bread? Make delicious croutons for your homemade soups and salads.
Ingredients:
White bread / Toast bread
Oil for roasting – neutral or herb oil
Salt
Method:
Turn on the oven on 180° C convection
Cut off the crust – if thin leave it on
Dice the bread
Toss in a bowl with oil
Put all the bread on a baking tray in an even layer
Season with salt
Put the baking tray in the oven for 10-12 min. until the croutons are golden and crisp
Let the croutons cool off on the baking tray, turn them with a paper towel to absorb residual oil
Store in a tightly closed jar or glass for up to one week.
